Heather Reid owned and operated Innovative Conferences & Communications for almost 3 decades, specializing in multi-day educational events and association conferences.
In 2013, Heather founded Planner Protect Inc – which consults with event hosts and industry professionals to negotiate BALANCED event contracts. CEOs, professional planners, and venue representatives alike all recognize Heather as a trusted and knowledgeable expert in her field.
In 2020/2021, Heather completed a Paralegal Studies certificate from Westervelt College and became a non-practicing, licensed P1 Paralegal.
As an expert in contract negotiations, Heather has been a guest author for Ignite Magazine, Meetings & Incentive Travel Magazine and Corporate Meetings Network.
She has been invited to speak for Canadian Meetings & Event Expo, MPI WEC, PCMA’s Convening Leaders and Educon, CanSPEP, CSAE, Go West Conferences, Canadian Special Events Live, and Southwest Showcase.
Heather is a long-time member of CanSPEP, PCMA and MPI. Heather has received national recognition for her thought leadership and innovation in the industry, including being named to the Canadian Meetings & Events Expo Hall of Fame in 2017, awarded a Smart Woman In Meetings award in the Innovator Category in 2017, and honoured with the Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners’ Heidi Wilker Award of Excellence in Mentorship in 2021 and the Joy Fox Award for Innovation in 2022.
